This session was a “push present” for Tara (great idea, Darren!). When I asked Tara what she was looking for, she had a vision of her family lounging on their bed on a Sunday morning. I loved this idea and I love how the captures turned out. Catching families where their personalities and relationships are the focus makes my heart happy! This session was relaxin, full of lots of laughs and sweet.

Keegan is a new big brother and the captures of him and his brother are some of my favourite. He is so protective and sweet. He requested many captures with his little brother, Finn and had ideas as to how he wanted to pose them. He was very helpful throughout the session – he wanted to help swaddle, console, cuddle and hold his brother. Finn is a lucky little guy.

Thank you, Darren and Tara, for having me over to capture your beautiful family. It was a wonderful way to spend a Sunday.

To be honest, when I hear “we’d love some photos of the baby and his 2 year old brother” I worry a bit! Not all two year olds are up to being gentle and kissing the tiny, wrinkly person who has taken up residence in their house.

I didn’t have to worry about Carson. He LOVES being a big brother and he is so gentle with the new Bradley. He was happy to kiss him, to comfort him and cuddle him (he even tried to help me pose him). He would hug him and close his eyes with a smile on his face like he was enjoying the moment. Pretty deep for a 2 year old! Bradley is going to be well protected as he grows up.

Caroline and Mike – thanks for having me over to capture this special time in your lives. I love spending time with your family.

This was the cry that was stuck in my head for hours after this session! Carson (the brother to be) is all about Buzz Lightyear right now. Any chance that he had to run he had his wings out and he was yelling at his Dad “Come get me Zurg!!”. He would then use his laser to get him. As is often the case with pre-schoolers, this game was repeated over and over and over and over…it was really cute! So we had Buzz visiting when we were doing Mom’s maternity photos and Buzz had to be caught for family photos. So much fun!

I captured this family at the same time lastyear and we had just as much fun this time around! Caroline and Mike are expecting their second boy so we scheduled a session to capture the end of her pregnancy (isn’t she gorgeous) and to capture their little family of 3 as they all wait for the new arrival.  Our sessions are always full of energy, laughs and the occasional run in with a golf cart.

Thanks for having me over again to capture your family. Can’t wait for your newborn session!

Besides being incredibly photogenic, Emily and Phil are so sweet and romantic! Each month they plan a date night on their anniversary date and they take turns being the one to organize it and surprise the other one. Emily was in charge this month and I think she came up with the best idea yet – a photo shoot!  I had a blast capturing this carefree, fun and loving couple.

Thanks Emily and Phil for the fabulous evening! You are both so annoyingly photogenic!

I was so excited to finally get the call that Arthur had arrived!

Usually at 13 days babies are sleepy and foldable – sweet, adorable Arthur was neither! Truth be told – he was just too chunky to fold! How irresistible is he? I could have snuggled him all day. Love the chunk :)

His big sister, Lucy, was so excited to get her photos taken. She was all about jumping and she was happy to show me all the places she could jump – the hallway, the stairs, the chair, the couch…..the energy was endless! The last time I photographed her she was all about dancing – this kid likes to move!

Thank you, Joan and Arno, for having me over to photograph this special time.  Your home has such a comfortable, peaceful (even with the crying and jumping!) feel to it – I love coming to visit!

Enjoy your sneak peek!

I met Julie and Devin last year when I photographed their little 3 month old. See here for the blog post.

I was thrilled to hear from them in the summer. They were planning on getting Ewan baptized and they decided to surprise their family by getting married at the same time! As a photographer who loves to capture special moments as they happen, I was so excited to shoot this! I think their baptism/wedding day reflected who they are so well – relaxed, committed, in love, a ton of fun and playful. There were a lot of smiles and laughs and I was happy to be there to capture them!

Thank you, Julie and Devin for inviting me to photograph this special occasion. I feel really lucky to have been part of such a special day for such wonderful people. I smile when I tell people about the details of your wedding/baptism – it was so personal, unique and fun. I love working with you and I hope to get the chance to do it again.

I hope you enjoy your post.

I was thrilled to be asked back to take O’s one year photos. We had such a great time at his newborn session :

One of my favourite parts of this job is getting to know families and getting to hear the stories about their little ones growing up. This family is so full of love – and O’s parents tell the best stories about him. I could have chatted with them for hours.

Just like O made me work the first time, he made me work the second time! This kid can move! It was so much fun watching him explore while I shot – he read his books, poked his fingers in walls, giggled at dogs, enjoyed being tossed about by his parents, doing crawl races with Dad, being smooched by Mom and would (on occasion) take a break to snack on Goldfish crackers. A great way to spend a morning!

Thanks C and D for another wonderful session – I enjoyed our morning together!

The second of the Thunder Bay mini sessions! These three girls burst out of the car, ready to go. I was told that they had practiced their faces in the mirror and were looking forward to their session all day.

To be honest, I thought I had my work cut out for me when their mother told me that she wanted a photo of the girls together smiling. They were SO easy to photograph – they followed directions perfectly (even the 4 year  old!).  They liked being silly, which made me very happy. Mom and Dad got into the action easily too! This family trekked through the woods, walked up the rapids and spashed around Lake Superior happily.

At the end each of the girls gave me a present – friendship pins, drawings and a Loonie. All of these things now have a special place in my office.

Thank you Tina and Mike for a wonderful session! You have a gorgeous, fun family.

This is the first of the Thunder Bay mini session families! We had a VERY hot day but this family was so relaxed and fun. I photographed these girls last year. I love getting to follow kids growing up and learning about the things that make them unique. I love that Lauren had her hair freshly streaked (green!) for the session and Megan was so full of energy to go anywhere for a photo – including the very cold Lake Superior!

Trisha it was nice to see you again and I’m so happy that Dave could join us this year. You have a beautiful family!
