Kids make their own schedules! We changed the time for this shoot a number of times because K kept moving his nap time around. On the day of the shoot, he decided to sleep in. I was happy he did because it meant I was there for bathtime! I love capturing the beauty of everyday events. The focus of this shoot was on capturing K and his family as they are now. His bathtime, lunchtime, snuggle time and playtime.

When K first woke up he was pensive and calm. His Dad said “maybe we should get the photos done now, before he wakes up!” His Dad was right! Once K woke up he was on the MOVE. He does nothing slowly! This session was full of fun, giggly chaos! Perfect!   I felt like I’d had a good workout by the end.

Thank you to K’s parents for having me over (and for sending me home with an awesome curry!) He is such a loving, playful, and sweet little man. I can see why you are so completely smitten by him! Enjoy your sneak peek! I’ll be in touch with your gallery soon.

What a wonderful way for this family to remember when their little guy was so small he could fit in the kitchen sink. This is beautiful!

When I first decided I was going to pursue a career in photography, I never imagined all of the benefits that would come from it. There was the obvious – getting to grow as an artist and learning how to be a business owner. I didn’t expect that I would meet some of my best friends as we all learned and grew together.

I am so lucky to be a part of a small group of photographers who initially met because we wanted to challenge and help each other as we developed our businesses and craft. That part of our friendship is still there, but it is now overshadowed by deep friendships that have formed. I adore these girls but we are spread all over the USA and Canada. We make a point of getting together once or twice a year for girls’ weekends – I leave these weekends energized and refreshed. These girls bring out the best in me.

This shoot was done at the end of our trip to Vancouver, Washington.  There were 6 of us shooting at the same time :) This is Amber Anderson (an amazing photographer) and her beautiful family. Amber is an inspiration to me – she has an eye for beauty and is one of the kindest, smartest and gentlest people I know. She loves her family fiercely. I loved having the opportunity to capture them hanging out and being themselves.

Amber – thank you for all that you do for me and our little group. Your strength, dedication to your friends, your humour and your ability to love so wholeheartedly is such a blessing to us all. We love you! <3

I just heard from this family to set up their baby’s one-year session! I figured it would be good to show some of the newborn images from last April before we finished the next session! The focus of this session was on their relationship as a family. I loved the simplicity of this shoot. It was all about the pure love between parents and child. I can’t wait to see how they have all grown together.

Sarah posted the following on March 19, 2012 at 8:55 pm.

Oh my goodness these are beautiful! I absolutely adore that second photo with the great big smile – fantastic work!

We’ve been having some amazingly warm weather this March! Between that and going through sessions from last summer to blog, I am getting SO excited for the warm weather shoots coming up this year!

This was a fun family shoot at the Governor General’s Residence. A huge expanse of trees and paths for us to explore! This family was looking for some updated photos to decorate the walls of their new house. They wanted fun, authentic photos of them being themselves.

It was an energetic shoot full of lots of love and cuddles and giggles. You can feel the love this family has for each other – the energy that they radiated was easy to capture! I love that they have such a sense of style (I think my favourite pieces were the little red converse sneakers!). Thanks N and S for the fun afternoon (and for your impeccable attention to details!)

I love that top right images! Wow!

I had the absolute pleasure of photographing my first set of twins this year. As with all the newborns I photograph, they both have strong personalities already. One is rather chill and happy to sleep while the other spent most of the session peaceful, but awake and staring at his brother. My favourite part of this session was capturing their relationship – there is something really special about the bond between twins, and it was evident even at this young age. Thank you to their Mom and Dad for having me over – your hospitality and relaxed nature was really appreciated! Thank you also, to my dear friend and fellow photographer Shona, for being the most indispensable overqualified assistant ever!

This session focused around things that T loves – baths, playing with Mommy and Daddy, apples and just being social. He was an absolute joy to spend time with – so smiley and happy. I’m sure you can see his little personality in these captures.

Awe… love that baby!

Now that the busy holiday season is over I have a little bit of breathing room to get caught up on my blogging! I have quite a few to post, so this blog should be busy in the next few weeks! On a night that is calling for -30 degree weather, it feels good to see some warm, sunny photos!

I’ve photographed this family since the beginning of my business and they hold a special place in my heart. I’ve loved getting to watch their family grow from 2 to 4 over the last few years.

We wandered the golf course and let the boys explore – C favoured climbing trees and searching for golf balls in the rough. B preferred sticking his hands down the holes. Their cousins were along for their own photoshoot (blog post to come!). I loved capturing them running and enjoying themselves. One of my favourite captures of the session is posted below. The boys were told to wait in a line until I gave them instructions – then I told them to RUN. I love their expressions and how they came at me full tilt!

Thank you Caroline and Mike for having me out (again!) to capture your beautiful family. I always love our time together.

Beautiful!

This session opened with a listen to “Party Rock Anthem” by LMFAO while the 2 year old shook it for us. He is quite passionate about his dancing, and it was one of the most energetic ways I’ve opened a session! It was a fun moment on many levels – I captured O over two years ago when he was a newborn. I love watching families grow and seeing how my little newborns develop personalities. O went from being folded on a little bean bag in the bathroom (it’s where the best light was!) to fist pumping in the living room!

His new little brother seems to be following in his party footsteps! Right now, he prefers to be up and eating rather than relaxed and sleeping (at least for this shoot!). He was happy to be surrounded and snuggled by people, and he seemed to prefer to be awake and not miss any of the action! His big brother was quite similar – during  his newborn shoot he would open one eye to peek at me when I was SURE he was asleep.

This was my fourth shoot with this family and each time I leave feeling lucky they “found” me (they were my very first “Google” inquiry!) I love hearing about what they have been up to and chatting parenting, traveling and running with them! Thank you C and D for a wonderful and relaxing session (with a little dance thrown in) – I hope you enjoy your sneak peek! I’ll be in touch with your gallery soon!

These are absolutely stunning! I especially love the interaction you captured with the parents. Beautiful work Jenn!

I’ve been photographing this family steadily for the past 3 years – it started when Dana was pregnant with K. It has been so great to watch this family grow to what they are now and get the chance to do a fall mini session with them!

K is an inquisitive boy who enjoys exploring the woods and collecting pinecones and logs. He was also very excited to feed the birds – it was hard to tear him away! However, he was happy to sit and snuggle with his little brother for a few minutes.

T is a calm and smiley boy who was happy to just be with people. He enjoys giggling at the funny faces his mother makes and exploring the world around him (including the odd nibble on a leaf).  You can tell he adores his older brother – the majority of captures of the two of them together involves T looking up at K!

Dana and Mike – thank you again for giving me the opportunity to capture your sweet family. I always enjoy how calm and peaceful our sessions are – and I always leave wishing we’d have more time to chat! I hope you enjoy your sneak peek – I’ll be in touch very soon with your gallery!

WOW – that bird one is awesome! Love all of them – the interaction with the boys is adorable!

Joanne and I have been trying to schedule this session for a while now. Each time we had a date and time set, it would be rainy and cold. Luckily the third time was a charm and we had a beautiful sunny (and warm!) October Sunday afternoon!

Ryan and Sadie were so full of joy and energy throughout this shoot. They were EXCITED to feed the birds on the trail and loved dashing through the woods (and singing at the top of their lungs). It was fun to follow them around and just capture the joyfulness of childhood. I also loved watching them interact with their parents – they were happy to pull them along in their adventures.

Joanne and Chris – thank you so much for having me out to capture your beautiful family. It was such a pleasure to spend time with you all! Enjoy your sneak peek – your gallery will be following shortly!

The family shot is darling – but I LOVE LOVE LOVE the last 3 the most. The emotions are raw and real like most your work. I also love your colors – It feels as if one can just step into the image and enjoy being in the woods. Beautiful. The family will be overjoyed I am sure.

All your work is beautiful but I love these photos of my sis and her family! the setting, the colours, and the emotions are all beautiful. I saw the slideshow and there are so many photos where I think “that is so Ryan” or “that is so Sadie”. Can’t wait to get our family photos done with you… maybe next summer when the twins are walking we can somehow get some shots of all 6 of us!
